We’re delighted to announce the release of our 2020 Keenan Chardonnay.
2020 marks the 26th year of our single vineyard estate Chardonnay and the 22nd consecutive vintage of production. This vintage is aligned with the same brilliant elements as before–a concentrated focus on fresh fruit character and bright minerality–and distinguishes itself in a number of ways.
2020 Keenan Chardonnay Napa Valley
The no-malo approach, combined with a very restrained oak regimen, results in a classic Chardonnay with a profile of sweet green apple, fresh-cut pear, and honey. A wet rock mineral element backstops the fruit, and subtle spice whispers on the horizon to remind us that the 2020 Keenan Chardonnay was, in fact, barrel fermented.
The 2020 Keenan Chardonnay Napa Valley is a style of wine that’s harder and harder to find these days. In fact, at first blush, it’s not crazy to assume this Chardonnay isn’t from Napa at all.
In this video, my dad, Michael Keenan, describes what many consider the greatest white wine varietal and the dynamic subtlety of the 2020 Keenan Chardonnay Napa Valley.
James Suckling gives this wine 94 Points and says, “A fresh and vivid Chardonnay with cooked-apple, honey, and cream character. Medium to full-bodied, fresh, and bright. Tight. No malo. One for the cellar. Drink or hold.”
