What is Cabernet
Franc? This is a question I
hear in Keenan has once again bottled a one hundred percent Cabernet Franc varietal. Seventy-five percent of this wine was produced from grapes grown on the Keenan Estate in Spring Mountain District. The remainder of the fruit was grown on Mount Veeder. The majority of the 2000 Cabernet Franc was blended into Keenan's Cabernet Sauvignon, but we couldn't resist bottling a small amount on its own (less than 100 cases were produced). The 2000 Cabernet Franc was aged in 50% new French and American oak barrels for eighteen months. The finished wine now shows deep rich flavors with intense ripe black cherry and plum aromas. Hints of earth and slight herbaceous notes add complexity as the wine "opens up". This wine has wonderful structure and will age for at least another 5 to 7 years. |
